AAHPA is committed to supporting Alaska's ports and harbors - and that means not only infrastructure and boats, but also the administrative functions necessary to working ports and harbors! In 2017 and 2018 we held break-out sessions to address administrative topics during the fall conference. These were well attended, and participants had excellent opportunities to network and share challenges, successes, and questions on admin topics.
By popular demand, we are piloting an AAHPA hosted winter conference in Anchorage to focus on administrative issues facing ports and harbors.
The Winter Administrative conference will be held February 12-13, 2020 at the Anchorage City Hall in downtown Anchorage (see map below). Registration is limited to 40 attendees. The fee is $50 and you can register online here.
Topics include: derelict vessels/establishing vessel ownership, forms and contracts, customer communications, professional development, marina management software, financial tracking, and a port tour at the Port of Alaska. The agenda will run from 8am to 5pm on both Wednesday, Feb. 12 and Thursday, Feb. 13. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided both days. The conference will be held on the 8th floor of Anchorage City Hall. There are many hotels in downtown Anchorage that are in walking distance to the conference location.
From Ted Stevens International Airport options to get downtown include taxi, rental car, or the People Mover city bus.
